Quick answer
Zürich Airport (ZRH) sits 195 km from St. Anton am Arlberg, with private transfers typically taking 140 minutes door to door. All pickups are arranged directly at the Arrivals level, outside the main terminal exit, ensuring quick access for travellers with ski equipment or late arrivals. This route is most reliably covered by a private transfer with Innsbruck Airport Taxi Transfer.
Transfers from Zürich Airport (ZRH) operate from the main Arrivals Hall of Terminal 2. The designated driver will wait at the official meeting point near the 'Meeting Point' sign, directly in front of the customs exit. For groups larger than seven, coordination at the curbside minibus/van zone is arranged in advance.
Routes from Zürich Airport to Arlberg resorts cross the Arlbergpass (1,793 m) or the Arlberg Tunnel, where snow and ice are frequent from December through March. Allradantrieb (AWD) vehicles and Schneeketten (snow chains) are standard on our fleet per Swiss and Austrian winter regulations.
Heavy congestion is common on the A1 and S16 towards St. Anton and Lech during weekends, especially Fridays 15:00–19:00 and Saturdays 09:00–13:00 (per Swiss Touring Club 2024). Holiday periods (Christmas, New Year, Fasching) can extend transfer times by up to 45 minutes.
ZRH-to-Austria transfers require passing through Swiss and Austrian customs at the Lustenau–Hohenems or Feldkirch–Schaanwald border crossings. Passports must be ready for inspection. Delays of 10–25 minutes are typical during peak holiday returns (per Zurich cantonal police).
Drivers monitor live flight status via ZRH’s official system. If your flight is delayed, the driver adjusts the pickup time accordingly. No additional waiting charges are applied for delays up to 90 minutes after scheduled arrival.
Advance booking is recommended at least 7–10 days ahead for Zürich Airport transfers to Austrian ski resorts, particularly during December–March. For Christmas, New Year, and February half-term, secure your transfer 3–4 weeks early to guarantee vehicle availability, as demand often exceeds supply.
Delays between Zürich Airport and Arlberg resorts frequently result from heavy holiday traffic on the A14, snowfalls affecting the Arlberg Pass, and Saturday ski changeovers. Swiss-German border controls may also add 10–25 minutes during peak weekends.
